From us to You

We are open to whatever level of communication you feel comfortable with during the pregnancy to help you through this process. We know this is a deeply personal journey, and anything we can do to help you through it, we are willing to do, up to being with you in delivery if that is something you’d like.

We have been preparing for starting a family for a long time and are financially sound. We are looking to buy our forever home too, so your baby will come back home to a big house with a loving family. Hopefully they will have a brother or sister in a few years, as we plan to adopt again to complete our family.

While we will be no doubt grateful for your child, once the child comes home with us, we don’t plan to have continued contact with you. We can provide photos of the baby in our home so you know they are safe and secure as part of our family. We want the child to know they are part of our family and not think of you as something he or she lost.

We are prepared to tell the child all about you when they are older, or not at all, if you prefer. But until the child is a teenager we think its best to keep reference to you as honorary, rather than specific.

We are excited to get to start getting ready for a baby, so i have no doubt that well be spending the next few months baby-proofing and getting their room ready.

Why We are Choosing to Adopt

We have always wanted a family. Both of us being men means adoption was always going to be in the plan. Our whole family is exited with us that we are starting this process. From the beginning of our relationship, we talked about the different paths to parenthood, and adoption was one that felt deeply meaningful to both of us. We believe that family is built through love, commitment, and showing up for one another every day, and adoption has always felt like a beautiful way to grow our family.

We joke all the time that Jun will be the strict parent and make sure the children eat their vegetables and wash their hands. And that Chris will be the supportive fun one that will help them with their homework and play with them in the grass and get them dirty. Routine and structure are important, but so is having the chance to try something new and play outside.

Lifestyle

We are mostly home-bodies. Our typical week involves going out to eat a few nights a week, staying home and watching movies or playing games together, and going to visit our family. We both like video games, and even have matching computers to play together with.

Jun is a good cook and he likes to cook a lot of Korean food and can cook a lot of different home cooked meals from both our backgrounds.

We live in Arizona and enjoy using our vacation time to explore places we’ve always wanted to visit. Last year we traveled to Portland, San Diego, and Breckenridge. We just took our honeymoon in Hawaii, and we plan to go back at least every 10 years. We’re enjoying this season of traveling together and look forward to creating new adventures with our future child when the time comes. We can’t wait to share these experiences and make new memories together as a family.

About Christ by Jun

My husband, Chris, is one of the kindest and most warm-hearted people I know. He genuinely cares about others and will do whatever he can to make the people he loves happy. He is thoughtful, intelligent, funny, and has a playful spirit that brings joy to our everyday life.

One of my favorite things about Chris is how pure and compassionate he is. A simple example happened when one of our dogs found a bird in our backyard that appeared to be dead. I asked Chris to throw it away so the dogs would not continue playing with it. Instead, he hesitated because he thought there might still be a small chance the bird was alive. Even though it seemed unlikely, he wanted to make sure before giving up on it. Moments like that remind me how caring and empathetic he is toward all living things. What excites Chris most about becoming a parent is the opportunity to love, guide, and support a child as they grow.

About Jun by Chris

Jun is a dedicated and loving husband. He has always wanted a family and had begun to think that dream might not happen. I’m happy we can reignite that dream together. He takes good care of our home and me and will take good care of our future children as well. He’s a home-maker through and through. He’s someone who likes things neat and organized and is a perfectionist, so I’m greatly looking forward to seeing him overcome the chaos and grime associated with children. It is the bright point of every day when I come home and get to see him.

He can’t wait to pack fun lunch boxes before school, cheer them on as they discover new interests, and learn new things together. He loves building LEGO sets, and wants to spend rainy afternoons creating amazing things side by side. He also looks forward to baking cookies, bread, and other sweet treats together, even if the kitchen gets a little messy.

Our Home

We live in Arizona, and this is likely where we will stay long term to raise our family. Summers are very hot, so that tends to be our indoor season, but the other eight months of the year are honestly amazing. Sitting outside on cool desert evenings is one of our favorite things to do.

Jun likes to build and collect LEGO, and we have a few cabinets full of it. We look forward to adding more kid-friendly sets and can’t wait to build together as a family one day.

Careers and family life: Chris has dedicated himself to his job in semiconductor manufacturing. This has provided a secure future for our family, but can be very demanding on his time. Jun plans to resign and be a full stay-at-home dad to make sure someone is always around our future child.

Our Family

Chris’s Mom and sister are our only local family, so much of our time is spent with them. His sister and her husband have two wonderful sons and we spend a lot of time going out to eat or taking them to places like the zoo or aquarium.

Chris’s Brother Lives in Milwaukee and we visit him every year and catch up. He frequently flies out to visit us for the holidays as well.

Jun’s family is currently living in Korea after moving from Colorado last year. His dad is in the military and they are traveling for assignment over there. We want to get a chance to visit them while they are there to see Korea, and they will want to come visit the baby as soon as they are here.

Racial & Cultural Diversity

As an interracial couple, we know that culture, identity, and family traditions are meaningful parts of who we are. Our family is shaped by both Korean and American traditions, and we love celebrating the unique experiences each culture brings. Practically this means celebrating Lunar New Year and sharing traditional meals or celebrating American holidays with backyard barbecues, Thanksgiving dinners, and Christmas traditions. We want our child to know that both halves of our heritage are something to be proud of, not something to pick between. If the child comes from a different heritage, we will look forward to adding that to our plans as well!

Our Pets

We have three great dogs, and some fish as well. We are always talking about getting more animals, and are both big animal lovers. Jun had Mango and Gow, a Golden-doodle and Shih-tzu mix, from before we met. And Chris got Doctor as a puppy right around the time we met.

Traditions

Chris’s family was always big on Christmas. The more children around, the bigger the piles of presents was. When Chris was a kid, he remembers building a fort out of presents and hiding in it with his cousins while the parents ate and talked. We look forward to recreating this tradition with our own children and nephews.

Halloween was also big. Chris’s dad used to hook up spooky music and blast it though the neighborhood, bringing the awe of children and entertaining the adults watching their own children run away.

Chu-seok is a traditional Korean holiday that was a big part of Jun’s childhood. Each year, we make homemade dumplings and rice cake soup and spend time with our extended families.

Chris was raised Catholic, and while the religious aspect has faded some, the traditions have not. Easter egg hunts and private school are likely plans for our future children.

Our Promise to You

Your child will grow up in a house where they will have responsibilities to help grow them into productive adults. We are builders by nature and look forward to passing down that to your child as well. Helping them to learn to build Lego sets or computers or  to design their own bedrooms and build that furniture. They will grow up seeing their efforts having tangible rewards and learn how to make their own way in the world.

We’re especially excited to create fun family traditions throughout the year—going trick-or-treating on Halloween, decorating the house and baking Christmas cookies during the holidays, carving pumpkins in the fall, decorating Easter eggs in the spring, and celebrating each season with activities that bring us together. I hope our home is always filled with laughter, creativity, and memories that our children will cherish for years to come.

Between Chris’s job and Jun choosing to be a stay at home parent, your child will be provided for both financially and emotionally. We will be able to take your child to great vacation spots, enroll them in the best schools, and love them constantly. You can rest assured that your child will be cared for and prepared to deal with the world around them. They will be loved and supported and given the tools to change the world around them and build the best life possible for themselves.
