We’ve had a lot of amazing adventures throughout our 9 years together. We’ve hiked through the mountains in Fiji, zip-lined through the jungles of Costa Rica, finished a tough mudder in Utah, and have relaxed on a lot of beaches in places like Hawaii and Mexico. Through all those adventures, we are most excited for this one, our journey to become dads. We had the privilege of being raised in loving environments filled with family traditions. Our experiences inspire us to provide the same for a child of our own. We are at a point in our lives where we have stable, flexible careers that will allow us to spend more time at home when we welcome a baby into our family. We will be there for all the precious moments, from midnight diaper changes to your child’s first step and first word.
We both have very strong ties to adoption. Beau’s grandparents welcomed two daughters and two sons into their family through adoption. We also have a very close friend who is an adoptee, and he is now an adoptive parent himself. Your child will have people in their support system who can share in their adoption story. Even though we are just at the beginning of this incredible journey, we have learned so much more about ourselves and each other and have no doubt that we will be amazing, loving, supportive parents. We are excited about the opportunity to not only carry on our own family traditions, but to create new ones with your child.
Our hobby farm in Colorado is our oasis. Beau grew up on a farm in South Dakota and we found a way for him to bring that experience to our home in Colorado. We now have pigs, goats, chickens, and rabbits on our acre of land. We also have two indoor dogs, Toasty Jacob and Rocky. Beau takes amazing care of the animals and finds fun ways to keep them entertained, including a xylophone for the chickens to peck at and a see-saw for the goats to exercise on. Steve’s creativity comes in the form of music, which is a regular part of our everyday life. Along with playing alto sax, he is the frontman of a party-music tribute band. Our shared creativity will have a strong influence on our parenting style and your child will grow up in an engaging environment where they can learn and have fun, all at the same time.
We are not the only ones who are excited about this journey. Everyone in our family is looking forward to welcoming your child. Steve’s sister and her family live two houses up the road and we see them often, as she and Steve work together. Our family members who are out of state (South Dakota and Pennsylvania) are still active parts of our lives and we have even figured out how to host family game night through FaceTime and Zoom. Steve’s nieces have come to rely on his random “How are you doing?” text messages or better yet, surprise pictures of our many animals. They frequently tell us how much they want a little cousin. We are so lucky to have our great support system of family and friends.
As you get to know us and look through our profile, we hope it becomes easy to see that ours would be a stable, loving, and fun home for your child to grow up in. Through our unconditional love and honest communication, your child will know they belong and will never doubt their place in our family and in our hearts.
