This is an incredibly challenging letter to write, and it is not hard to imagine that it will be equally challenging to read. We know it is important. It must be. Maybe we’ll just start with the easy parts and then later get to the trickier parts - the parts that require a bit of faith.

Our names are Britney and Rajeev. We live in Missouri with our 3-year-old son, Madin. We both work as physicians, but our real jobs are being devoted parents and partners. We very intentionally chose employment that maximized the amount of time we have to spend with each other and our son. Britney works part time as an ICU physician and on her days off she spends most of her time with Madin who describes her as a “lung doctor.” Rajeev works as a gastroenterologist and chose a job that has great hours with a very flexible schedule. Madin doesn’t understand the term gastroenterologist, but he is always eager to tell people that his “daddy is a poop doctor.” We both love our jobs, but we love our family more. And that will always remain our number one priority.

When Madin was born it rocked our world. Partly because he did not come on our timetable and partly because that kid just did not like to sleep. We spent hours, literally hours, each night taking turns bouncing him back to sleep. He had the incredible ability to wait until we had zombie walked back to our rooms and settled into a state of sleep deprived rest to cry out again for us to return. Despite our sleep deprived madness, we loved him more than we had ever loved before. That’s when we both really understood the concept of unconditional love. This love has been the most powerful and amazing thing in our lives. This will be the same love we share with your baby from the moment we are matched with you.

Unconditional love will also guide you to the parents you choose for your baby. You don't know us. And to be honest, you will not know us after reading this profile. While you may learn about our lifestyle, our interests, our careers. You won’t truly know what we are like. You will be taking a giant leap of faith with us or whomever you choose to raise your baby. A leap of faith that no one else can ever truly understand. Know that this leap of faith is guided by your unconditional love. With this love guiding your path, you will find the right fit, whether that is us or someone else. Should you choose us, know that your unconditional love will live on in us every day as we raise your baby. We will honor your love, by remaining completely committed and endlessly devoted though our every action. We are certain we will make mistakes; certain we will find ourselves tired as we zombie walk to their crib when they cry or low on patience when they jump on the couch or decide to finger-paint on the walls, but we will always put their needs first. We will always love them. We will celebrate their victories and comfort their failures. What we can promise is that we will love them unconditionally and we will do our best to make sure they have a life that they, and you, are proud of.
