Hello.
We have gone back and forth on how to write this letter. We will not try to say we understand what you are going through because we don’t. From the bottom of our hearts, however, we can say that we honor and respect you. We imagine this is a confusing and difficult time for you as you are trying to figure out what is the best option for you and your precious baby. We hope that you have love and support, no matter what decision you make. Please know we are here for you.
What will life for your child look like with us?
Your child will be loved unconditionally. We will laugh together often, eat dinner together as a family nightly, celebrate successes, and learn from our mistakes. We will support each other during good times and challenging times. We are fun-loving, creative, and adventurous. We live in beautiful Colorado and spend much of our time enjoying the beautiful wilderness, mountains, and rivers within minutes of our home.
With your
child, we look forward to:
★ our first camping trip together
★ the first time he/she sits on our lap to row
our raft down the river in our town
★ riding the ski lift together to teach him/her
to snowboard at our local ski area
★ cross-country skiing and sledding together
★ watching him/her play in the yard with our
Saint Bernard, Kiera, and our kitten, Polly,
★ the joy of building a cousin bond with our
niece and nephew who live two doors down
★ getting dirty playing with clay in our pottery
studio or building something out of wood in our woodworking shop
★ riding bikes together on the river trail or
mountain biking trails surrounding our town
★ picking vegetables together in our geodesic
growing dome
★ skateboarding together with the neighborhood
kids at the local skatepark
★ spending time together at Grandma’s house next
door or at Grandpa’s ranch
★ going on road trips together to travel to the
ocean and beautiful places around the country
Amber has always had a love for children. She started babysitting at a young age, got her teaching certificate, taught 3rd grade for years, then earned her master’s degree and principal license, and is now the principal at the neighborhood elementary school. She has always wanted to be a mom! Dan has always had a passion for adventure and working with his hands. He has had adventurous jobs working at ski resorts and for ten years has owned his own carpentry business. We have wanted to have children together since we met. We were unable to conceive due to infertility reasons and are excited to grow our family through adoption. Our careers have allowed us to follow our passions while having a work-life balance. Our schedules allow us time to spend with family enjoying travel and the activities we love.
If you decide to make a birth plan with us, we want to assure you that we promise to respect you and whatever level of openness you want to have with your child. We want you to be a part of your child’s life so that he or she can have an understanding and appreciation for the tremendous sacrifice that you made out of love. Your child will always know the love you have for him/her.
We appreciate you. Thank you!
All our
love,
Amber and
Dan
