Dear Expecting Mother,
We don’t know you yet, but keep imagining what it will be like once we do. We can’t begin to understand the thoughts and challenges you’re facing right now, but we are cheering you on. The fact that you are giving us the biggest gift we could ever ask for, makes us speechless.
We want to be your support system & your friend during this time. We hope to have the relationship that you want with us. We want to do what makes you comfortable and happy. Whether you need a listening ear or help of any kind, we are your people. We want to teach your child of family traditions that your family may have, so they can experience their family roots. We want your child to know about you, their beginning, where they came from, where they were born, and that they were born with your love. The saying is “It takes a village” and your child will certainly have a village waiting for them when they come into this world.
Adoption really spoke to both of us. After conversations with friends who have adopted, family, and doing research, we felt even more drawn to adoption. It’s meant to be a part of our journey. We are so ready to grow our family. Not a day goes by that we don’t picture what our life will look like with a child. We have already started getting things ready for your baby’s nursery. The theme is jungle and giraffes! We also already have our “mom car” with all of the safety features and third row seating. Excitement is almost an understatement.
Your baby will be spoiled with love. They will have a big sister, aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents who won’t be able to get enough of them. Their Grammy, which is Megan’s mom, has talked about having a grandchild forever. She started penny jars when Megan was young and said it’s for her future grandchild. Also, your child will be lucky enough have a “guard dog” who is excited to be a "big sister". We will make sure that your child will never go without. They will be encouraged with academics, sports, music or whatever their interests might be. They will get to travel and experience new things with us and their big sister, Hannah. There have already been many talks of a family trip back to Disney World. In addition, Hannah plans to go to college nearby, so she can see her sibling as much as possible.
If you look back and read this letter, please remind yourself that you are a strong & beautiful woman. Know that not many would be brave enough to make the decision you are making. Know that you have made us the happiest people in the world. We hope you find happiness in knowing that your child will know all of these things about you & that you were the one who gave us the opportunity to become a family.
So much love,
Mark & Megan
