Dear Expecting Mother:
Hello! Our names are Kent and Stefanie and we live in sunny Southern California with our dog Oreo (he’s a ten-pound Shih Tzu/poodle and a lover of all cozy blankets!). A little about us…We met in 2013, through an online dating app, but quickly learned we lived just 30 seconds from each other. Life can be funny that way! We quickly bonded over our love of “car dancing”, music, travel and Disneyland. In fact, on our third date, we unexpectedly found ourselves baking Halloween cupcakes (there isn’t a holiday Stefanie doesn’t love), listening to music and dancing in our socks around the kitchen. It was the best date ever; and, to this day, dancing in our kitchen, in our socks, happens daily!
We absolutely adore children and simply can’t wait to be parents. It’s our dream to raise children together and to expand our family. Kent can’t wait to be a dad and he is very much looking forward to teaching your child how to hit a tennis ball, how to properly throw a Frisbee, and how to build the ultimate s’mores dessert! Stefanie can’t wait to be a mom either. She grew up going to dance competitions and performances with her team, something she cherished deeply. She also loved competitive swimming and other sports. She can’t wait to be a cheering mom from the stands or the audience; and, even more importantly, right next to your child in everything they do!
Even though we work hard, we don’t take ourselves too seriously. Kent loves to tell “Dad jokes”; and, you just never know when Stefanie might break out into a dance move, just to get a smile! It’s truly important to us our home is filled with energy, warmth and fun. We married in 2015 after Kent proposed in Paris on his birthday (he loves a good surprise!), and you may have already guessed...but there was a lot of dancing at our wedding!
We live in a beautiful community, just a few miles from the beach, surrounded by a nature preserve. There is so much we love about our neighborhood. We love taking walks together each evening with Oreo and often envision pushing our child in a stroller and pointing out the beautiful sunset over the hills or the birds and bunnies along the way.
Of course, we very much look forward to going to the playgrounds with your child, but there is a special place in our neighborhood we just can’t wait to visit as a family, and that’s the Campout! We can bring our tents, telescope (there are so many stars here!) and our s’mores kit and spend time together under the night sky. We often pass the Campout on our walks and imagine how fun it would be to spend a night under the stars and would absolutely love to share this with your child. Both of our parents followed us to California and live about 20 minutes away so they will be able to join us for many of these family activities. We would be forever grateful for the opportunity to raise your child here.
Outside of our neighborhood, we’ll love taking your child on many adventures – to the beach, on bike rides, and to our favorite place of all – Disneyland! We have annual passes, as do our parents and friends, and we go as often as we can! We just love the happiness and joy that comes from walking around the park on a beautiful day, eating a churro (or, Corn Dog for Kent), riding rides (especially Thunder Mountain!) and watching fireworks. Many, many times we’ve imagined what it would be like to bring our child to Disneyland and being able to experience the awe and wonder through their eyes. We often picture how fun it will be to share popcorn or a churro, dance along to the Main Street parade and meeting Mickey and Minnie!
As a couple, we are caring and nurturing, but have a silly sense of humor and we don’t take life too seriously. We are so grateful for the many wonderful things life has to offer. If given the immense responsibility and honor to raise your child, we will teach your child kindness, adventure, and integrity. We will love your child unconditionally and be fierce protectors of their heart. We promise to provide them with every opportunity to expand their learning and encourage them to give back to their community. We admire you and wish you continued strength. Thank you very much for taking the time to read our letter. We can’t possibly understand how difficult your decision must be, please know your time spent getting to know us is greatly appreciated, and if we get a chance to meet one day, we would love to learn more about you.
Thank you for considering us for the tremendous opportunity to know and love your child.
Stefanie and Kent
