Dear Expectant Parent,
We hope that this letter gives you some insight as to what we are like. We can’t claim to understand your situation, and our hearts go out to you at this time as you are faced with difficult decisions and the emotional challenges that accompany those decisions. Our prayers are that you will have peace in your life. We are excited about adoption and want nothing more than to expand our family.
Now, for a little bit about us. We met while we were both in the Army, studying the Chinese language for our future careers. Chris is still in the military, while Britta stays home with the children. We dated for about 8 months before we decided to get engaged. We were married on a beautiful July morning in Britta’s grandparent’s backyard, 16 years ago.
We both stay active with work and leisure activities. Chris has the good fortune of working in his dream job as a Foreign Area Officer for the US Army, and Britta gets the amazing job of being a stay-at-home, home schooling mom. She also takes college classes in her spare time, ongoing education is a passion of hers.
We love to spend time together doing anything we can, from a family movie night to our many hiking adventures in the outdoors. We travel every chance we get and have explored much of our country as well as many nations abroad.
We definitely love boys, we love our three boys so much! We just really want a girl this time! Our daughter has been the only girl in the entire extended family. She is the only granddaughter, as such she has been so spoiled by the grandparents! She wants a sister so badly and we want another daughter so much! And so do the grandparents!
About our Taiten, Kaia, Kekoa and Callum:
Taiten is fifteen years old. He was a honeymoon baby, born to us when we were 22 and 23. He is a whiz kid at science and loves to study Astronomy in particular. His hobbies include reading, legos, and being outdoors. Taiten has had a few struggles to overcome in his life. He was born with an eye that didn’t work quite right and was only able to learn to read at age 10 after doing a few months of vision therapy to correct his vision. He surpassed his grade’s reading level only weeks after learning to read! He is a very helpful boy and very loving to his baby brother.
Kaia is twelve years old. She came to us after struggling with infertility for two years. We were thrilled to have a little daughter to add to our family! She is a horse fanatic and has been learning to ride horses for the last 5 years. She loves crafting, reading, and playing with her dolls. Until her aunt and uncle had a baby girl in 2019, she was the only granddaughter on both sides of the family!
Kekoa is eleven years old. We adopted him from China after six more years of infertility. He was almost five years old when we brought him home. He is so smart in school and is the best at drawing dragons. He is a happy child who loves to make people laugh. He has a couple dozen jokes memorized. He is a social butterfly and loves his siblings, cousins, and friends!
Callum is our little boy born in May 2019, 12 years after our last bio baby arrived. He is such a miracle and is doted on by his siblings! He loves being snuggled and also being outdoors. We can’t wait to give him a little sister so he will have a best friend after his older siblings grow up.
Thank you for taking the time to get to know us a little better. We pray that you will feel peace and comfort at this difficult time. We welcome the opportunity to answer any questions that you may have for us.
Chris and Britta
