Dear Expectant Mother:
What a struggling, challenging, conflicting time you must be experiencing right now. As you navigate the next path and consider the difficult decision of placing your child for adoption, we want you to know your child will be welcomed in to a loving and caring home should you choose us.
We’ve always wanted to be parents, but initially decided to pursue other goals in our first years of marriage. When the time was right to start a family, we struggled for two years, including a miscarriage, and always considered strongly pursuing adoption as an additional choice. Meredith especially has always yearned to adopt, in part stemming from losing her biological father at age 4 in an accident. When her mother remarried, she herself was adopted by her “new dad” and provided with a nurturing, nuclear family.
Having a newborn baby would truly be a blessing to our home, as we intend to raise him or her as our own with our shared values instilled by our Catholic faith, strong work ethic, and desire to be good, positive parents and role models. Among our closest friends with children, we are often considered the adoptive aunt and uncle, and always relish at the opportunity to engage with their children, many of whom we got to know, babysit and help raise from infants. To afford the opportunity to bring that same level of joy to a child of our own and raise them as such would truly be a dream come true.
The importance of family bonding is something that both of us value a great deal. We envision a fun and loving home full of laughter and quality time spent together as a family. It is our hope that we may share some of our favorite activities with your child, such as travel, attending sporting events, riding trains, and playing outdoors. We also look forward to taking on new adventures and pursuits that will arise from your child’s interests.
As a family, we have relatives on both the east and west coasts and travel often to visit loved ones. When we met, we were living on the east coast, Mike’s home, and later migrated west to Meredith’s native state, and we share a unique love and appreciation for both coasts. We hope to bring our love for travel, for sports, and for education to your son or daughter as well.
We presently live in a condominium community, surrounded by friendly neighbors, attractive parks, and trails that skirt and enhance the beauty of the area. We share our home with two pets, a cuddly tabby, Baxter, and a curious dachshund, Sam; both of which are used to children. Also rest assured; your child will be well fed. Drawing on Mike’s Italian heritage, he enjoys cooking nutritious and hearty meals in the traditions of his grandparents.
We want to thank you for the courage to make this challenging decision, and for considering us as prospective parents to raise your child. We hope to offer you everything we can in terms of hope and support to provide a bright, shining future for this child entering our world.
Mike and Meredith
