Dear Expectant Mom,
We’ve wanted a family and to be parents since we met. We love the idea of taking care of our family and being there for them whenever they need us. Kristen currently works at a private preschool in the Pre-Kindergarten classroom, and loves every minute of it. Joshua is an Applications Manager for a local engineering firm. We got married in June of 2015 and we’ve been trying to start a family ever since. We sought out multiple doctors and even went to a fertility specialist. After two procedures and one surgery, the results were inconclusive. In other words, they had no clue why we weren’t conceiving. Last July Joshua suggested we look into starting the adoption process, and we began to hope again for the family we always wanted.
Joshua has always wanted to adopt at least one child. Our original plan was to have two children of our own, and then adopt the third. Now, after the emotional roller coaster we have been on for the past four years, we understand that adoption was the answer all along; it was part of God’s plan for us. At least once a day we stop and think, we wish we could show this to our daughter, or tell that our son.
Every year we have Christmas at Kristen’s parent’s house. Christmas morning we all wander in and leave our troubles at the door. We wait until everyone is off work and can be there before we open gifts. So, around 4 or 5 in the afternoon, Kristen’s mom plays Santa and passes out the gifts while we all sit around a 12-foot Christmas tree. Each year she picks one of the two granddaughters she already has (our nieces) to be Santa’s little helper, and has them help her pass out the gifts. We can’t wait until your little one gets their chance to help her on Christmas.
During the weekends in the summer Kristen’s whole family retreats up to Michigan where we have seven cottages, full of family, all in a row on a private lake. She grew up on the water learning how to tube, wake-board and surf. Your child will grow up around food, family and the water just like she did.
During the winter months we will visit Josh’s family in Illinois. We love going into the big city to see shows or go to the museums. Other times we just stay in and watch movies with them and catch up on all the missed moments.
We know that you are going through a really hard time in your life right now, but we want you to know that you could be making every dream of ours come true. You would be giving us the chance we can’t give ourselves. The chance to pass on our dreams, traditions and culture. The chance to be a role model for someone. The chance to share our world and our love with another. We want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Thank you for considering us, and we can’t wait to meet you and your little one.
