Dear Birthmother,

We want you to know that our hearts go out to you with this tough decision.  You are so brave, loving, and selfless to make an adoption plan for the baby you’re carrying.  After you read about us and look at our pictures, we hope you’ll be assured that we are a good choice to parent and raise your child.

We’re Sam and Kristen and we’ve been happily married for almost 9 years.  In college, we had a few teaching classes together which gave us the opportunity to get to know each other.  After dating for about a year, we got engaged on New Year’s Eve.  Nine months later, we were married, with our family and friends sharing in the excitement and joy. 

We’ve always known that we wanted to have children, but, after a few years of trying, we haven’t been able to get pregnant.  We feel that adoption is the way we can build our family and do the fun things we’ve been planning-going to ball games, on bike rides, swimming, and playing with our dogs, Miles and Molly.  Our families are excited to have a new little one join the group.  Grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins can’t wait to shower the child with love.

We live in a wonderful small town with a great school district.  Our neighborhood is full of kids playing outside, riding their bikes, and swimming.  As teachers (Sam is a seventh and eighth grade social studies teacher and Kristen teaches first grade), we value education and are positive our child will get the best.  We’re happy to work in the same school our child will attend and that we’ll have the same days and holidays off as our child.  During summer vacations, we’ll spend time with our extended family, camp, play outside in our fenced in backyard, and go to music festivals.  On snow days, when we’re off school, we’ll make chocolate chip cookies as a special treat, build snowmen and snow forts.

Sam loves teaching middle school and coaching the boys’ basketball team.  The team feels like an extension of our family and we have them to our house each year for a spaghetti dinner.  Sam is laid-back, caring, understanding, and funny.  He enjoys biking, camping, and listening to jazz music.  Teaching first grade is a perfect fit for Kristen.  She’s caring, loving, patient, and sincere.  She loves the young kids’ zest for learning and is amazed, every year, at what good readers and writers they’ve become.  She enjoys reading, cooking and baking, and biking.  Miles, a six-year-old black lab mix, and Molly, a three-year-old golden retriever, are our dogs.  They are definitely part of the family.  They love going for walks, playing Frisbee, going swimming in nearby lakes, and being petted.
