Dear Birthmother,

Words cannot begin to express our eagerness and excitement to accept the gift you are able to give. Your brave and selfless act will help fill our home with a bundle of joy that we have been anxiously awaiting to love and to hold. We are Becky and Ryan and we have built our relationship on a love that we can’t wait to share with our child.

Our friendship began in 1997 in college when we were neighbors in the dorms.  Little did we know that our friendship would evolve from a walk to an evening class on campus to a walk down the wedding aisle in 2003.  We each married our best friend.  From day one we have experienced a friendship that is built on love, trust, honesty and laughter.

After graduation we moved to a small suburb in Northern California. Becky accepted her first teaching position in a new elementary school and Ryan accepted a position in the banking industry.  We fell in love with our new home and community and quickly settled into our new careers, meeting many wonderful co-workers and new friends.

We feel blessed that a few years later Becky’s family members decided to relocate to our community.  Her parents recently retired and wanted to be closer to their daughters and grandchildren. At the same time, her sister and husband accepted new jobs in our area and they were thrilled to move to our neighborhood with its excellent schools for their two children.  We are now very fortunate to all live within walking distance of each other.  Our community has a high achieving elementary school that our child will attend, nature trails that we will take family bike rides on, a small lake surrounded by a park where our child will play with their cousins, and most importantly, our child will grow up in a safe neighborhood surrounded by a close, loving family.

Ryan’s family lives a short plane ride away in Southern California.  They own a successful family business and Ryan attributes much of his career success to the foundation that his parents built for him.  His success as a commercial banker has earned him a reputation of reliability, trust and knowledge in his field.  His job allows him to work only on week days, which enables us to spend more time together as a family. His success in his career allows us the financial freedom to provide our child with a childhood free of financial stress.

Ryan is outgoing, funny, determined and is passionate about his interests.  He is eager to take our child to play golf, teach our child how to plant in his garden and take part in our child’s extra curricular activities, coaching soccer or softball teams. Ryan loves to cook and we envision nightly meals at the kitchen table sharing not only a healthy meal but also sharing about our days at work and at school.

Becky is patient, loving, gentle and kind.  She awaits the day when she can share her love of reading with her child, teach her child to swim in the summertime and take part in play groups with her many friend’s children. Becky’s love of children is evident in her first grade classroom where she spends time not only teaching academics but also creating a loving and nurturing atmosphere in which her students flourish.  She is looking forward to the day when she can share her knowledge of teaching by helping her own child learn and volunteering in her own child’s classroom.

As we dream of our future together we realize the importance of spending time as a family. We want to share our passion for life with our child and have them join us in our travels. Whether it is a summer camping trip where we will roast smores around the campfire or a trip to Europe where we can climb to the top of the Eiffel tower, we know our child will be with us.

We’ve always known we wanted to share our lives with children.  After attempting to conceive for the past several years, we have realized that what is important to us is not a pregnancy but a child to love and fill our lives with happiness. The day we decided to move forward with the adoption process was like hearing that we were expecting. Adopting a child is the greatest gift we will ever receive.  Your courage and selfless act is one that we will be eternally grateful for.  We are eager to surround our child with love.
